Welcome to Chilmington Green

Chilmington Green will bring a vibrant, mixed use, new community to the town of Ashford in Kent. This exciting development has a clear aim; to create a truly quality environment in which residents and businesses choose to live and work and feel proud of their community.

Chilmington Green will provide around 5,750 new homes arranged in three distinctive neighbourhoods, as well as retail, community, social and recreational facilities. Chilmington Green will boast its own high street, a secondary school, four primary schools, a park and extensive areas of green space. It is expected to provide over 1,000 new jobs for the local area.

A planning application was submitted in August 2012, and a decision is due to be made by the end of 2013.

The Chilmington Green Area Action Plan (AAP) proposes a policy framework to deliver a new community in Ashford of up to 5,750 homes at Chilmington Green, which will create 1,000 jobs and will be delivered over a period of 25 years. The AAP contains policies on several topics concerning the development, including community infrastructure, transport improvements, ecology and what character the different parts of the site should have. The submission version of the Chilmington AAP was submitted to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government on 26th October 2012. A Planning Inspector has been appointed to undertake the Independent Examination into the legal compliance and soundness of the AAP, to ensure that it is in line with national policy. The Examinations hearings commenced on Tuesday 22nd January 2013.

Chilmington Green will be located in the area between Long Length to the east, and the Ashford Road (A28) to the west, whilst the southern boundary will lie south of Chilmington Green Road and border open countryside.

Ashford has unrivalled transport connections with both access to the motorway network and the UK’s first high speed rail line into London taking just 37 minutes. And with Chilmington Green being connected to the centre of Ashford by footpath, cycleway and a dedicated high frequency, high quality bus service, it’s easy to see why Chilmington Green is set to be the prime location of the future.
